2021 Latest National Family Assurance Life Insurance Reviews

National Family Assurance has an A+ rating with BBB. Last year, clients were getting consistent calls, text messages, and emails from National Family Assurance about quotes in exchange for personal information.

The complaints were that the calls would continue to come in after customers’ requests to stop calling. Calls, texts, and emails are still harassing people.

National Family Assurance Group is a corporate agency that essentially operates as a middle man by matching insurance-seeking customers all over the United States and the District of Columbia with insurance coverage and company that’s best for their needs and budget.

Created in 2016 by Assurance IQ, Inc., the National Family Assurance is a national online marketplace that recommends two to three insurance carriers, based on the answers given to a series of simple questions.

It also provides pairing services to customers in need of auto, homeowners, and health insurance. In this review, we will focus on the best life insurance offerings out of all the insurance services offered through www.nationalfamily.com.

National Family Assurance Life Insurance

Based out of Bellevue in Washington State, National Family Assurance is an online marketplace that connects customers with top life insurance providers and finds the best policy for their budget. NFA appeals mainly to first-time insurance buyers who are also savvy online shoppers.

If they prefer, customers can call the agency’s company phone number directly to speak with an insurance agent. Also know that insurance companies are required to produce an agent’s license number by law upon request.

Its member affiliates include, but aren’t limited to:

National Family Assurance

The National Family Insurance company offers consumers the opportunity to get multiple quotes and company information from top-rated life insurance companies.

Financial Strength

All NFA affiliate insurers are rated highly by independent assessment agencies. For example, Allstate has an A+ rating from Standard & Poor’s, A1 from Moody’s, and A+ from AM Best.

Keep in mind that these agencies have their own grading systems so an A+ doesn’t necessarily mean the same thing, even though both are indicative of good financial health. In this case, A+ is second from the best possible score for AM Best, but fifth from the top for S&P. The Insurance Information Institute provides further clarification.

Evaluating financial health is particularly important as an insurance customer. You want to be sure that should you need to make a claim, your provider will be able to cover your expenses when the time comes. Take some peace of mind knowing that all National Family Assurance member companies are prospering in this regard.

Company Ratings and Customer Service

NFA as an organization is ranked highly by BBB, with an A+ rating as of May 2019. Because this agency is affiliated with several insurers, your best move is to look at Better Business Bureau to more specifically evaluate customer satisfaction.

Twenty-four complaints have been filed and addressed since 2016 and 18 in the past year. It’s worth noting that issues filed were largely linked to advertising and sales criticisms, rather than filing claims or specific life insurance products.

National Family Assurance Online Life Insurance Quotes

According to polling conducted by LIMRA, approximately 50% of life insurance shoppers conduct their research online. NFA appeals to Americans’ internet savvy by enabling them to obtain a quote entirely via the world wide web if they so choose.

How Does The National Family Assurance Application Process Work?

The questions are brief and direct, inquiring about height, age, tobacco use, and general location. Additional inquiries are of a personal nature, such as if applicants were treated or prescribed medication within the last five years for various illnesses, such as cancer, chronic pain, diabetes, or some other medical condition.

Completing the questionnaire results in a recommended insurer, along with details on how much life insurance applicants should purchase and an estimate of what it will cost per month.

Price transparency is something that consumers like about online life insurance shopping, with 57% of respondents in a recent Life Happens and LIMRA Insurance Barometer Study indicating as much.

It’s important to note that quote shopping isn’t the same as applying. It’s designed to give prospective policyholders an overview of what they can expect to spend. A more formal – slightly lengthier – process is the next step. Here as well, the documents can be filled out entirely online or it can be handled over the phone by dialing 844-334-0566.

Applicants’ Social Security details, date of birth, and health information are among the items that need to be filled out. Be wary of any company asking for personal information like banking accounts or refusing to provide a quote if you chose to unsubscribe from their marketing campaigns.

Discounts

Available ways to save largely depend on the member insurer you’re considering. Some of the more common discounts include bundling (i.e. buying both auto and life insurance), early renewal, non-smoking and healthy living. What qualifies as healthy living may be subject to change and require corroboration through medical exams.

National Family Assurance Life Insurance Policy Options

Since NFA is a marketplace, it doesn’t underwrite its own policies, so policy offerings are actually those of its affiliates. They include:

Term Life Coverage: Otherwise known as pure life insurance, term life is the most popular life insurance product on the market. It’s generally the most affordable as well, entailing policyholders to pay a fixed sum annually for the duration of its length, the longest usually 30 years.

Whole Life Coverage: A guaranteed cash value policy, whole life stays in force in perpetuity, so long as premiums are paid. The death benefit is paid out when the owner passes away, which may be more than its original dollar worth thanks to earned dividends.

Universal Life Coverage: Unlike term, where premiums are fixed, universal life offers flexible rates and that can be paid for at the owner’s discretion. They may spend more or less from year to year. This type also has a living benefit advantage that gives people access to the cash value for use however they’d like. However, drawing from it decreases the death benefit for end-of-life expenses.

Final Expense Coverage: A variety of whole life insurance, final expense coverage pays for many of the costs that people may have yet to pay off before they pass, such as the mortgage or medical payments. It also provides the requisite funding for funeral and burial. In 2017, the median price for a funeral with all the standard features (e.g. viewing, burial, ceremony, etc.) was $7,360, according to the National Funeral Directors Association.

National Family Assurance Life Insurance Riders

A standard term life insurance policy – or any other kind – may not have everything that an individual needs to be fully covered. That’s where riders serve their purpose, by supplementing existing plans so they include something in addition to the basic components. Here are a few offered through NFA-affiliate insurers:

Disability Income Rider: Should someone be seriously injured and miss work, this product can pay for certain expenses.

Guaranteed Insurability Rider: Age or certain health issues may prevent some people from obtaining coverage. That’s not an issue with this type of rider, which assures eligibility at a future date.

Critical Illness Rider: Although insurers often have their own definition as to what qualifies, critical illness riders provide living benefits that can pay for medical services involving the treatment of serious health problems.

Child Protection Rider: An add-on to whole life. Once added to an existing insurance policy, this supplement can cover the costs associated with a child’s death.

Spouse Protection Rider: Typically a provision of term life policies, spouse protection riders is a death benefit that can go toward paying for costs incurred due to a married partner’s untimely passing.

Long-Term Care Rider: An appendage to a life policy that can pay for health services relating to chronic illnesses or diseases, such as Alzheimer’s.

Family Income Benefit Rider: Should the owner of a life insurance policy pass away, this rider pays beneficiaries the salary amount of the decedent, for a period that is subject to the terms of the provider.

Accidental Death Benefit Rider: An accompaniment to an in-force life insurance policy that triggers when the owner is killed through no fault of his or her own.
