Coverage & Discounts

allied insurance is nationwide auto insurance

Aside from their standard auto insurance offering (bodily injury, property damage, collision, comprehensive, medical payments, personal injury protection, uninsured/underinsured motorist, and rental reimbursement), Allied Insurance lets you customize your policy with the Allied Rewards Program.

Some of the categories of Allied Rewards include accident forgiveness, roadside assistance, vanishing deductible, Good-As-New, and deductible savings.

On top of that, when you bundle your home and auto insurance, your rate is locked for 12 months and you also get access to Allied Extra.

With this program, you get access to a single deductible, bonus emergency lockout, bonus air bag replacement, and bonus accidental death benefit.

Another thing to consider is the discounts. Allied offers the standard options such as multi-policy and multi-vehicle discount, new vehicle, accident-free, good student, and more.

Bear in mind that products and discounts vary from state to state, including personal injury protection, which isn’t available in all states. Also, Allied insures many car makes and models but not every vehicle is covered.

Check with your local agent for information on what you qualify for.

Current Allied Insurance Costs

Insurers consider many factors when assessing risk, including your car’s model, make and year, your gender, driving record, credit history, and age.

This means that you won’t know how much you’ll pay until you get quotes from many insurance providers and compare your car insurance options.

Comparison shopping is the key to getting the most for your dollar. Take your time to contact different insurers, ask your family and friends for recommendations, and browse the internet for insurance information and online quotes.

Unfortunately, Allied doesn’t offer online quotes, so you will need to contact your local agent to get an estimate on how much a policy will cost you.

To receive a free quote, you will need to provide your personal information (driver’s license and date of birth), info on your driving history, details on the vehicle you want to insure, and details on the drivers who will be listed on the policy.

Visit the Allied Insurance site and enter your ZIP code for a list of local agents and choose the one that’s most convenient for you.

Allied Insurance Breakdown

For comparison purposes, consider the following scenarios for California drivers:

  1. A single female with standard coverage, who drives a Toyota Prius with an approximate mileage of 8,000 and no accidents or violations in the past three years. She lives in Riverside, California.
  2. A single male with standard coverage, who drives a Toyota Prius with an approximate mileage of 9,000 and has one traffic ticket. He lives in Riverside, California.

In the first scenario, the female driver would pay an annual premium of $3,033 with Nationwide. This figure stands out for being one of the highest on the list along with Nations Insurance at $3,754. The lowest premium is Wawanesa General Insurance Company at $1,670.

The second scenario shows a single male driver with one traffic violation. He would pay an annual premium of $3,424 with Nationwide. Once again, this number stands out for being one of the highest premiums, with Farmers Insurance being the highest at $5,317. The lowest premium is Everest National at $981.

As you can see, while both drivers have a Toyota Prius, drive similar distances,  and live in the same city, there’s a considerable variation in premiums.

The difference lies in that the female driver hasn’t had any traffic accidents or violations and the male driver has one traffic ticket. Thus, annual rates can vary greatly depending on a single factor.

With these examples, you can see how one traffic violation can affect your premium.

Note: We could not find Allied Insurance in the insurance company list of the California Department of Insurance. Instead, we chose to use its parent company Nationwide for comparison purposes.

Consumer Satisfaction

One of the pros of Allied Insurance is that it employs independent insurance agents.

So, what are the advantages of an independent insurance agent?

Simply put, you will have a greater range of choices and, hence, more opportunities to save.

That is because insurance companies target specific customer profiles and demographics who pose less of a risk to them depending on their actuarial formulas. Working with an independent agent may help you identify the company offering the best discounts and savings for your needs and situation.

Like most insurance companies, Allied has its share of poor reviews, but it also has a pretty good number of positive ones where customers cite excellent in-person customer service, rates, and payment options (monthly or annually).

Customers can file a claim by phone, online, or through the Allied mobile app.

Remember that you will need to provide information including your policy number, the accident location, and details of the accident, among others.

In California’s Department of Insurance Automobile Complaint Composite Report, Allied Insurance is ranked number 13 out of 50 and received three justified complaints in 2017.

This makes Allied Insurance stand out for having one of the lowest overall number of complaints.

We chose this complaint report because California is the nation’s most populous state and is, therefore, representative of a larger population segment.

Final Thoughts on Allied Insurance

Allied Insurance offers a variety of customizable car insurance coverage to meet each driver’s individual needs.

Additionally, the company promises local, in-person customer service, and there are multiple ways to submit a claim, including a mobile app.

Overall, the company appears to have a solid claims program and up-to-date technology, and offers easy access to service and repairs.

In addition, it has received a significant amount of positive customer reviews.
