Life Insurance for Overweight People

by Chris on January 20, 2009

It’s no secret that overweight and obese people struggle to find affordable life insurance rates.  You’ve come to the right place.  I now offer a revolutionary, historic opportunity for the obese.  If you’ve been researching how you can buy affordable insurance, you already know that all the carriers look at your build, or height to weight ratio, when determining what premium you’ll pay.  Wherever you go, your premium will be higher than it would be for someone with a slim build.  I can’t change that.  But I can offer you the chance to reduce your future premiums easily.

It’s the new Wellness for Life Rider, recently introduced by Aviva.  Similar to the way some automobile policies offer discounts for good drivers, with Aviva you could earn credits towards your cost of insurance for living a healthy lifestyle.

You’ll have two ways to get credits:

  1. Maintaining your weight and
  2. Going to the doctor for a biennial check-up

Simply stay within a pre-established weight range that Aviva gives you and see a doctor every two years, and you’ll be eligible to receive discounts on your cost of insurance, at Aviva’s discretion.

In addition, you’ll receive a variety of health management tools from the Mayo Clinic, which help you to maintain your weight.  These include a quarterly newsletter, special offers for their resources and programs, a 24-hour “ask” hotline where a registered nurse will answer your health questions for free, along with a few other perks, all designed to help you achieve your wellness goals.

A couple notes: You can add the Wellness for Life Rider onto most of Aviva’s indexed universal life products, and there’s a one-time, $100 charge for the rider charged in the first policy year.

With Aviva, you have the opportunity to reduce your premiums for doing two things you should be doing anyway: maintaining your weight and having regular check-ups.  This is definitely the best product for people who are overweight and need life insurance.  Also, read my article on Term Life Insurance, as that may be a more affordable life insurance option for you.
